About the role
You make personal intelligence affordable to run all day, connecting useful work to energy use and to the constraints of a household. The unit that matters is not chip power, it is what the wall meter says for a given amount of work done.
The work
Characterize idle, peak and sustained power across compute, memory, storage and networking. Design energy-aware operating modes, power budgets and graceful behavior during outages. Evaluate backup-power or home-energy integrations through supported partner interfaces.
What good looks like
In your first 90 days, publish a measured energy profile and implement one improvement in energy per successfully completed task.
Evidence we look for
Bring power-electronics, energy-systems or computer power-management experience. Be comfortable with instruments, workloads and the difference between chip power and wall power.
What we need to see
- Power electronics, energy systems, or computer power-management experience
- Comfort with instruments and real workloads, not datasheets alone
- You know the difference between chip power and wall power and measure the second
- You can connect an energy number to a household bill honestly
Nice to have
- Battery systems or UPS design
- Solar or off-grid energy systems, given where we want compute to live
- Performance per watt optimisation across hardware and software
The exercise
Compare an always-on local configuration with scheduled and remote execution, including idle energy, transfer costs and task quality.
