About the role
You keep people's computers available, supportable and repairable over time, and build the supply and service relationships behind that. Repairability is a stated commitment rather than a feature, so this role is partly about refusing choices that make a machine disposable.
The work
Qualify suppliers, manage component lifecycle risks and negotiate practical service arrangements. Work with engineering on substitutions and repair procedures. Build a returns process that protects user data and reports the real cost of ownership.
What good looks like
In your first 90 days, deliver a sourced bill of materials, alternative-component plan and a privacy-preserving repair workflow.
Evidence we look for
Bring electronics sourcing, operations or service experience and strong technical communication. Show how you have managed shortages or field defects without hiding the tradeoffs.
What we need to see
- Electronics sourcing, operations, or service experience
- Strong technical communication, because you will translate between engineering and suppliers constantly
- You have managed a shortage or a field defect without hiding the tradeoffs
- You plan for the service life rather than only for the launch
Nice to have
- You have built a repair or refurbishment program
- Multi-sourcing and qualification of alternates
- Experience with right-to-repair requirements
The exercise
Plan a storage replacement where a user needs their computer restored but must not disclose the contents of the original drive.
Where and how we work
In the office together five days a week, in any of these cities. Remote-friendly around your family, arranged one person at a time.
